About Kristine Karpinski

Kristine is a certified yoga and yogadance teacher, trained in numerous traditions including Laughter Yoga, Kundalini, Sivananda, Kripalu, Shake Your Soul, YogaDance and JourneyDance. She is a member of both Yoga Alliance (500hr) and the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and is presently working towards registration with ISMETA, as a Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator.

In addition to teaching movement methods based in somatic approaches, she practices as a registered massage therapist offering swedish and thai yoga massage. Her particular style of massage borrows from the many techniques she has studied and worked with including, orthotherapy, shiatsu, reflexology, craniosacral therapy, chakra balancing, continuum, reiki and metamorphic technique. She also offers yoga therapy, and has certification in both the Integrative and Phoenix Rising traditions. In the past, she has specialized in prenatal yoga and practiced as a doula (birth support provider) for over ten years, working to establish a number of doula collectives and training courses in town.

At present, Kristine teaches community classes in yoga and yogadance at the Ottawa School of Speech and Drama. She has a specialized interest in body dynamics for the performer, having studied theatre and psychology in university and is developing a method of expressive yoga training called YogaSense™. She has collectively trained in, and taught various healing modalities, movement methods and dance styles for over 30 years.
